I am a fan of the one on one series from http://www.beachbody.com, created by Tony Horton. Each month, they release a new workout that is up close and personal with Tony Horton himself at his home gym in LA. The nice thing with these are that there is a huge variety in workouts so far from Volume 1 (Just arms, medicine ball cardio, . Starting with Volume 2, the first DVD is called ‘Cardio Intervals’. This should be an awesome workout if it is anything like the rest of the series has gone. I love the Interval Plus, Kenpo Cardio Plus, 5-6 cardio and medicine ball cardio workouts from both P90x plus and One on One currently. There is a pretty complete write-up of the Volume 2 promo going on here.
What I think is great, is that if someone subscribes to the series, they are giving out a ‘bonus’ DVD workout, Pay it Forward’ in July, this month. This workout is a one on one with Tony Horton and someone that is 400+ pounds. The idea is to show that fitness and a healthy lifestyle can start for anyone at anytime in their life or health levels. The idea is NOT for YOU to do the workout, but to give it to someone you feel can BENEFIT from this workout and walk away feeling that they can make a change in their life. That they can begin a journey to a healthy lifestyle and all the benefits around it. This is an awesome idea that they have come up with. Hopefully they will continue to do things along this path. They are leading the way to changing the face of fitness in the US and the world. It’s a beautiful evolution!
So one of the nice things as well with the one on one series is the ability to mix and match the workouts with your original P90x and P90x plus series workouts. I’m wrapping up my 2nd round of a hybrid workout that I’ve been doing for P90x which has included all the above mentioned. P90x/P90x Plus/one on one workouts. To keep your body guessing at what you are bringing to it next (Muscle Confusion for the win) you need to add variety to your workouts. This is an awesome way to do it.
Now mind you, in the true spirit of getting in shape, this can be done with ANY workout series that is out there. The key is a healthy lifestyle, one that is active both physically and nutritionally. The food side of the equation is probably even greater than the other. I’m no saint when it comes to eating, that is my toughest aspect of things. But the key is that I keep working out, keep making strides in changing my eating habits and enjoying what I am doing.
Have fun, take that leap of faith and start moving. You won’t regret it.
