Wednesday was day 37 of Insanity. Kick butt Max Interval Plyo! I really enjoyed it. I felt much more ‘relaxed’ compared to the first day of max intervals and I think that helped. The Circuit workout was pretty insane and really pushed me. The Plyo i thought was very effective, but didn’t have as much of a ‘kick’ as circuit. Just my opinion. But needless to say, I loved every minute of it. NO matter how hard it hits, I want to see results, so I dig deep and get through every workout.
Video Update for Day 37 is Here.
So what is Max Interval Plyo all about?
Total Time: ~ 54 minutes
warm-up –> 3x ~4:20 minute sequences. The warm-up here was very similar to the one in the Max Interval Circuit workout. Still gets me to do switch kicks' out the gate in the warm-up. But this definitely lets you know its going to be a serious workout. Especially in the 3rd rotation when it is all out fast. :).
stretch –> ~4:30 minutes. This stretch is same as with the Circuit stretch. Very effective. I do however add in a calve stretch of my own. Just something that I like to do. and if at anytime you think you need more time stretching then just pause the dvd and add what you need. Stretch and warm-up are so critical to making sure you don’t get injuries. do NOT sacrifice on these 2.
First Plyo Sequence –> 3x ~ 4:30 minutes each. There are some great plyo moves throughout this one. I really liked the squat push-up’s. which then jump right into the wide in-and-out abs, and some one legged V pushup’s. All of that and more awaits you when you get to Month 2. It really is a blast. I was actually surprised that I help up as well as I did. Sometimes my left knee likes to give me a twang so I won’t push as hard, but I didn’t feel anything and really went all out. Much fun!
Second sequence ->3x ~ 4:20 minutes each. So typically by this time, we’d be doing some cool down stretches. The pogo Right and then the power push up’s are two great exercises. This sequence is more about controlled plyo type moves where you are focusing on the core, and form. Other than LEVEL 3 DRILLS! Yes, those are evil fun, what can I say. 16 pushup’s and 16 runs. Lots of pushup’s overall through the entire plyo workout actually.
Last sequence-> 1x ~ 5:30 minutes. Power plyo fun. His words, Keep the core tight and breathe! So starts off with pushup’s. yes more. These are more fun, side pushup’s. :). 15 on each side was actually very tough by this point. oh and my favorite of the sequence were the power knees into the diamond jumps.
standard cool-down –> ` 4 minutes . Same warm-down that we see during the Max Interval circuit. Effective as usual, but if you feel you need more, then please make sure you do more. You can over stretch, but sometimes there are parts of the body that you just know need more. Everyone knows their own bodies.
Final Thoughts: I really liked this one. I liked it a TON better than the first month’s plyo workout. I felt more comfortable. Can’t really place it why, but maybe it was because I'm in better shape now than I was when I started plyo. This was fun, powerful, and energizing from the start. My body really responded well. Much better than anticipated. I think those coming into Month 2, will enjoy this workout.
