I hope everyone is sticking to their health and fitness plans so far into the new year. Finding ways to stay committed and motivated. I am currently 3 weeks into the latest p90x hybrid that was developed by Mark Briggs. He is one of the founding coaches in the BeachBody program and is an amazing motivator and practitioner of what he preaches. The reason I mention that, is because it’s not just about going through the motions. It’s about being motivated, excited, the willingness and dedication to your fitness and health in order to become a better, healthier and stronger you!
so what am I currently up to right now. Lots. At least trying to. I’m in the 3rd week as mentioned mixing things up in this super hybrid program. It is a mix of P90x original, the 3 Tony Horton One on One volumes, insanity and Insanity Asylum. It is the best of the best of the workouts to get some serious muscle confusion and well plain and simple keep things mixed up. There is no getting bored in this program. So far, it has been fabulous. The variety is well amazing since there are so many different workouts that Mark has spread throughout the 90 days. This is my lead up to a couple things I have in store for me this summer.
So a couple friends and I were thinking, let’s mix things up this summer. Rather than the standard running events, lets do something new. So we came up with two things. First up at the end of July will be the Warrior Dash. This is a 5k run, mixed in with 12 various obstacles. Those Obstacles include, water, fire and who knows what else is in store. The key is, that this will be fun as HELL! Hopefully if we find this as fun as we hope and so forth, we’ll start preparing for next April’s 2012 Tough Mudder event. That is stepping it up even further to 10 miles mixed in with some wicked obstacles. Variety is the spice of life.
The 2nd event this summer will be my first ever Triathlon. This will be in Mid August. We are doing a sprint (.5 mile swim, 12.4 mile ride, 3.1 mile run) the first time out since we have never done something like this before. Or least all at once like that. So started with a regular bike training schedule, running schedule and next week will begin my swimming escapades. It has been many many moons since I have done any kind of lap swimming. But I am looking forward to it.
So there you have it. Variety, fun, motivation and an un-daunting commitment to keeping myself fit and healthy for many years to come.
I hope you are finding the one thing that is motivating you to get started down your own health and fitness path. Just takes those first few steps to realize that you will feel better after working out than you did before.
One Day at a time! Decide. Commit. Succeed!
