What is your excuse today?

americas-obesity-epidemic We all do it at some point or another. I will be the first to admit I’ve used excuses before.  I Kevin Price have made excuses for not doing the right thing!.   I did it for many years making up the usual reasons to not do what was right for myself.  I mean, it is rather simple isn’t it? So why do we do it? Why do we continue to ‘enable’ ourselves to not live up to our potentials; to find those  little reasons to sit on the side lines.  Why continue to feel like we are wasting away?  Why continue to go down a dead end path?

It’s not rocket science. I want to see you get healthy.  Stop eating fast food.

Here are a few statistics:

  • 110 Billion dollars are spent annually alone in the US on ‘Convenience’ foods.
  • 15 Million Americans are considered Morbidly obese
  • Current trends have our children NOT living longer than their parents if things continue.

I saw this video and thought that it was perfect for explaining why there is no place for an excuse today, tomorrow or any other day.  Watch this video, you’ll see there simply is no reason for it.  You want motivation, here it is. Get up off the couch. Get out your recliner.  Get moving today and make a difference in your life and your children's.  Let’s get healthy!

Contact me if you are ready to make a change. Here to help you anyway that I can to get moving in the right direction towards a healthy lifestyle that will transform you into the person you want and should be. Help yourself, help our children and their children understand what is the right way!

Day 29/30 of 60 Insanity Challenge by Shaun T. and BeachBody

clock August 20, 2009 09:50 by author blogger

insanityTextBox So we are 2 days into the recovery week so far.  As with all recovery and rest days, they have their purpose.  My body is enjoying these ‘relaxed’ workout’s so far. I know that it is wondering what I have in store for it in the coming days. if it only knew the madness was coming.  :).

So what does the Core cardio and balance have in it?

Duration is around 38 minutes total.  not too long at all.  Good amount of time for a recovery sequence.

Lots of variety.  There are no two exercises through it that are the same (other than the combo’s). Which i think is nice. with the focus on the ‘core’ you have to really pay attention to controlling and tightening your core throughout.  I like the variety because you can’t get too comfortable with a sequence.  You  don’t always know what is coming next.  I enjoyed it when he threw in there some switch kicks.  :)

The one part that got me was near the end.  The Hip Flexor burner.  A simple Ouch will suffice with that one.  The last few sequences are geared towards the balance and core aspects specifically.  By the time this was done, my hip flexors and quads were on fire.  It was an awesome challenge to try and hold the entire time they did. I will admit I have had to stop once or twice and come back in. just enough to relieve the pressure on my quads.  Shows where I have some work to do.

A couple things to remember.  One, always focus on core.  Seems like a no brainer, but think about it consciously that you need to tighten things up.  Think about your form throughout.  Proper form will help reduce chances of injuries and you’ll get the results.   Also don’t over do these workouts. it is the recovery week.  You should NOT be going to total exhaustion. You should get a decent heart rate elevation but nothing like in the first 4 weeks.

So enjoy the recovery week.  It will help recover the body for the upcoming  Max Intervals and next level of fitness to come.  I’ve enjoyed the recovery work so far, and hope you are as well if you are in it also.  If you are just starting out, or already in the first 4 weeks, have fun everybody.  Make sure you are using the time effectively.  There is no reason to take up 45 minutes of your day if you aren’t DIGGING DEEP throughout the entire workout.  60 days comes and goes by quickly. To see the results you are expecting you need to be focused from Day 1.  This is only 1/2 the battle.  Make sure you are following the nutrition guide.  It’s got some great food ideas and gives you the recipe to making sure your food intake is proper to keep you fueled throughout and getting lean!

Ready to take the Insanity challenge? I hope so.  I have been excited from the first day, and I am still excited.  I’m seeing and feeling results and I would love for you to get in the best shape of your life also.  contact me with any questions about it or anything BeachBody, fitness or just to strike up a conversation.  Love to talk about it.   If ready, hop over here and grab it.  It would be the first step in a journey that you won’t regret.  You’ll continue to find me most nights in WOWY being accountable @ 9pm EST.  It helps me i know it can help you. If you need a Team BeachBody account, sign up here.

Have fun, press play, get fit, and make a lifestyle change that can help turn the tide!

KP is out! Peace!

If you’ve fallen off the wagon, get yourself back up!

clock August 14, 2009 10:31 by author blogger

fallDown So many times, you hear the stories of people getting all excited to start their workout routines, and just seem to falter off.  You get pumped and motivated, start by buying some new shoes, workout clothes, get that gym membership started and start going.  You try to make some decisions on the type of workouts your going to start doing.  Whether it is some weight routine, some treadmill or elliptical workout.  Then you decide on how many days a week you’ll go and what time of day.  Rock on, your ready to go.

It starts out great.  You go on the days you decided, putting in the hour or so of time that you dedicated and things are looking good.  You make a conscious decision to try and eat better, watching them calories and cut back on the ‘bad’ foods you were eating before.    All of a sudden, an obstacle of some kind gets in the way. Or maybe, you are forced to take a day or two off because of some crazy work schedule or travel plans.

So what happens next?  What happens to us mentally that allows something to get in the way of keeping up with your fitness/health/life goals?  Is it a lack of motivation? Is it a lack of finding the right routine that really keeps your interests peaked? Whatever it is, it happens. I did the yo-yo workout thing for ages.  Go for a month and then just stop one day.  No real reason other than the lack of desire to get in the car and drive.  Especially when it got cold out.  I couldn’t muster the energy to go to a gym and stick to the routine.

So what can get us back on the wagon and stay on it?  What are those factors that really get people to stick to something that they need to do.  Or what breaks them of their ‘bad’ habits that they have so often fallen back to when they stop doing the right thing.  Each person person is different. We are all wired somewhat differently, so it takes different motivators for each and everyone of us.

Let’s list some things to get you back on the wagon if you’ve fallen or feel like you are beginning to waiver.

  • Set Goals - If you set goals your more likely to succeed. Your more likely to want to reach them if you see them on paper.  It creates accountability!
  • Variety – Variety is the spice of life they say right? If you create some variety in your workouts, you are less prone to want to stop. less chance that you will find a reason to not reach your goals.
  • Track it  - write it down.  Use a website, such as WOWY.  Use a fitness log to journal your adventure. Treat this like you on an adventure of a lifetime. Because it is.  This isn’t some simple 1 day, 1 month thing.  It is a lifetime lifestyle change for the better.
  • Support/Motivators – find a family member, a friend, or a support group of people that have the same dreams, goals, aspirations about their health.  There is nothing better than helping one another achieve results.
  • Have Fun – to play the game, you have to have fun.  Why else do it.  it shouldn’t be a second job or work.  Enjoy it!

abstract-party-1 If you’ve fallen off the wagon once or twice, it happens.  You just need to find out what works best for you, to keep you motivated day to day to get it done. Working out shouldn’t be a chore, shouldn’t be something that you feel ‘forced’ to do. Working out, getting healthy is a natural extension of your everyday life and activities.  Make it a part of it. Get your family involved and you will all find out that you are living a happier life full of excitement and energy.  It’s never too late to start.  Never let anyone say to the contrary that you can’t get yourself back into shape, that you can’t be happy!  Everyone has that right and capability.  Just have to find it.

Contact me, and I would love to help discuss what you want to do, what your goals are.  I’ve used P90x and Insanity so far as the guiding forces to my fitness and healthy lifestyle change, in 8 months I have transformed myself both physically and mentally.  I can guarantee you that they work.  I can 100% say with certainty that you will see results if stick with them.  There is no reason that you can’t find success either.  Join me in the revolution that we need to make our lives more enriched.  It’s a two way street. You give it the due attention, and it will give you back the same if not more in results.

Are you ready for a change?

changeImage1 So does anyone ever like change? Do you like being taken out of that comfort zone that keeps you nice and happy, no worries about figuring out something new, or forcing yourself to learn a new way of doing things.  That wouldn’t be any fun now would it? I mean, why change for the better when you are quite content with the way things are going along now.  Sure you might be unhappy, feel miserable, not moving up the chain or gaining recognition, but sometimes that just seems more acceptable rather than facing the reality that you might need to break free of your fears.

Change has many faces and many obstacles to overcome.  Change is scary, it can come at you from many angles and most not when you expect it.  But change can be a good thing also. You just need to take that step to changing the ‘things’ around you that are holding you back from achieving the success you want, and know that you should have.

In order to get yourself back on a healthy lifestyle fitness level that you use to be, always wanted to be or plain outright need to be to live to a healthy age of 80, you have to CHANGE.  You have to accept  that with this change there will be pain, there will be sacrifices that you much make.  it isn’t an overnight affair, it is a lifelong quest and bond that you will forge with yourself to become healthy.  Can it be done? Totally.  More...

I just don’t get it. Have we really turned a blind eye?

ice-cream-tease Have we as human beings really make the conscious decision to sit back on our heels and do nothing? Have we really decided that sitting on the couch flipping channels, eating fast food, snacking on those wonderful candy bars is the norm?  Has our paths really taken us down this road of despair that we haven’t realized what it has done to the younger generations?

I mean, for one, look at these recent articles. These all just came out over the past week or so.  I think we just don’t get it anymore. But there is HOPE. More...
