Day 5/6 of 90 Round 4 – P90x Legs and Back (Tony Horton) / Max interval sports training (Shaun Thompson Insanity)

clock March 14, 2010 14:03 by author Kevin

Day 5 –> P90x Legs and Back.  Rock solid leg workout. With some added pull-up’s in there for the back.  You should by the end of this one have some pretty exhausted legs.  You’ll be doing a ton of lunges and squats.  All using your own body weight along with added weights or bands if you have them to increase the intensity.  The one exercise that always gets me is the single leg squat.  No matter what, seems I just don’t have the skills. :).  But I get in there, and I do it. whether it is 5 or 8 seconds each time I do it.  What I’ve found from doing the various leg workouts that Tony has created and includes wall squats, it is a mental thing.  You can do it. It can be done.   Just stick with it. Each workout, you try to do a little more each time and pushing yourself to do better.

Day 6 –> Insanity Max Interval Sports Training.  Now, we all love a nice cardio workout. One that gets your heartbeat up, blood pumping and the sweat pouring.  But when you take on an Insanity workout, especially one of the Max Interval (2nd month workouts) you are taken to new heights.  I’ve done Insanity twice now and this is probably my favorite workout.  One hour of pure sweat dripping fun.  If you own Insanity, or are looking at getting or trying insanity, make sure you go with the Deluxe Version of Insanity.  The three extra workouts are must haves for it.  If you play sports then this is highly recommended workout. I love it for the fun of the basketball, boxing and football drills.  With the basketball that I’ve added to my weekly routine for the past 3 months, I think it has been an awesome addition.  It’s helped me since well let’s just say I’m no spring chicken and I'm out there for the workout. :)  I’ve added in weighted gloves and ankle weights to most of my cardio workouts now.  Really love them in this workout and the Kenpo cardio plus.

I’m having fun. Another round that is going strong.  I’m going to start really increasing the weight in the coming weeks.  I think it will help me reach my goals of both getting stronger and really pushing the envelope this time around.  Cardio I will continue to keep it up. With the added running and getting ready for the 10k in May.   You can follow my running over at the Nike site.

Take some time. Set some goals, layout a game plan.  You’ll find if you do this, you are more likely to be successful in your program and in life.  One goal at a time. Short and long term, you’ll do amazing things for yourself.  Your never alone. that is something critical to remember.  You have support, you just need to ask for it. Just need to look at ways of creating accountabilityContact me, love to help, love to talk about it.  If you are already using a Beachbody product, then get signed up at Team Beachbody.   Great community support, and you’ll get me as some added support through your program.

Decide. Commit. Succeed!

Round 3 – P90x / Insanity Hybrid Complete (Tony Horton and Shaun Thompson)

clock March 7, 2010 23:39 by author Kevin

insanity-p90x Yep, today would be the official final day of my 3rd round of P90x.  It’s been an awesome 90 days!  The mix of these 2 programs is amazing at creating a great program that not only pushes you resistance wise, but pushes and challenges you from the cardio perspective with Shaun T’s Insanity program.

What’s awesome, is that when you enjoy something, are seeing results, are creating a better you and sharing that journey with everyone it goes by quickly.  This round has flown by quicker than al the other’s so far.

This particular round has seen many changes and adjustments.  One bonus was for Christmas I received from my lovely wife a pair of SelectTech 552 Dumbbells.  I will say on record that these things rock for this program.  They are compact, they are quick to change weight and I’ve seen amazing results for my personal achievements in the 2 months that I’ve used them.  If you can afford them, get a pair.  it’s just amazing at the amount of space saved.  I had previously been using bands for my first 2 rounds.  Bands are effectively, but I feel I have gotten by far gotten better results with the weights.  Each person is different. Each person has different situations which require them to use one versus the other.  We do our best and forget the rest.  Key is pressing play.

So what have I learned over the past 90 days?

I’ve learned that with any workout program, you have to be willing to be flexible.  You have to make yourself accountable. You have to find that inner motivation each day to press play, find ways to push yourself to reach for those goals that you set from day 1.

Goals?

I consider this one of the biggest priorities when starting a program. Set some. Some even the smallest of goals. Because you have to have something you are willing to work towards.  Record your numbers. Take your measurements. Set goals based on weight loss, size in bicep, body fat reduction, # of reps, lowering your cholesterol and/or blood pressure. It doesn’t matter. But you have to do it.  Get a piece of paper (ok, not many of us use real paper anymore) but write it down. You’ll modify it each day and week.  It doesn’t matter.  Just do it.  You won’t regret it.

What’s Next?

I’ll be posting my next schedule tomorrow (Monday March 8th, 2010).  It will be another 90 day program.   It will be another hybrid like this one but I hope to throw in some added pieces just to spice things up.  I’ll be modifying my goals this round. I’m also incorporating running 3 days a week as I train for a 10k in May. Which I’ll post more information on as well.

In the end, I have found wonderful success with Beachbody products.  I have found something that works for me, fits into my schedule and has taken me to a whole new fitness level. Thank you Beachbody.  I have not been using their products for just over a year now. I passed my 1 year anniversary back on January 12, 2010.  It was such a great achievement to still be going strong, staying committed and motivated to press play each day and show to my family and friends that it can be done. It becomes an extension of your daily life and habits.  You make it fun, you challenge yourself, find others that are interested in the same things as you and it can be done! Just takes that first step of realizing you need to make a change!

As a beachbody coach, I am here to help you take that first step!  There is a match for you no matter what your fitness level.  I would love to help motivate you, create accountability and assist wherever I can for you to reach your goals.  Decide Commit and you will Succeed!

P90x/Insanity Round 3 Update (Tony Horton / Shaun Thompson) – Going into Phase 2

clock January 1, 2010 23:37 by author kevin

insanity-p90x It’s been a fun couple weeks.  Lot’s of family stuff going on, vacation with the holiday’s and I’ve not had much time to get out my updates as regularly as I would have liked.  But I hope everyone is still out there pressing play, bringing it with each and every workout as you should be.  This is a great time of year to get started, get focused on what is best for you, your health, your future.

I’m enjoying my 3rd round right now with P90x/insanity hybrid.  It’s been challenging to say the least actually. Probably so far my hardest round from all fronts.  including pressing play, finding that motivation myself to get in there each and everyday to press play, eat healthy and do what is right for myself.  But, what I do to keep myself going on is my desire to be the best that I can. To be healthy for the future, and stick to what has motivated me over the past year to staying consistent.

I’m loving the results I’ve felt just in these mere 4 weeks, finishing the recovery week right now.   I get to dig back into the 2nd phase on Monday and use my new Select tech dumbbells from Bowflex. I’m really excited to push further now with my weight training side of the program, while still getting the cardio benefits from Insanity.  I may begin throwing in a few doubles (extra cardio) a couple days a week.  Really depends on how my schedule plays out over the coming weeks.  The key, is consistency, having a little fun and pushing yourself to reach beyond those obstacles that hold us back more times than we would like.

Focus on where you want to take your program.  Create the goals, create the motivation and accountability around you that will help fuel you to day 90 and beyond. This isn’t simply a 90 day program.  This is a life changing experience for me, as it should be with you.  Find out how to get yourself and your body into the best shape it has ever been. Feel good about yourself.  There isn’t any reason you can’t.

Contact me, I’d love to talk with you about your goals and where you want to go with your fitness program.  It’s there for the taking. You can do anything you want in the world, there isn’t anything holding us back! you can find me in WOWY each and everyday around 9pm pressing play, creating my accountability with my buddies and friends that have the same interests as I do. Day 8/9/10 of 90 P90x Round 3 Hybrid – Chest & Back / Max Interval Plyo /Shoulders & Arms with Cardio Abs/ARX

clock December 19, 2009 07:50 by author kevin

insanity-p90x Yes, the train keeps moving on.  And it is a great ride indeed.  Day 8 and Day 9 and Day 10 of the P90x Round 3 hybrid continues with lots of fun, sweat and soreness.  But that I welcome.  My body is still adjusting and adapting to the change in routines and by the time it thinks it is fully adjusted, phase 2 will come along.  I’ve been really trying to up the ante more this time around.  I think the biggest struggles continue to be in the fine tuning stages.

Day 8 –> Chest & Back / Cardio abs   Now who doesn’t like a little dose of reality with some chest and back and an incredible ab workout that doesn’t do any crunches.   Increasing my  numbers for both pull-up’s and push-up’s is critical this round and I’m making great progress.  From week 1 –> week 2 this time I have felt much better with form.  Getting deeper on the diamond push-up’s and just all around loving the feel so far.

Day 9 –> Max interval Plyo was a great feeling of getting some feel back from Month 2 of insanity.  Month 2 steps things up a notch and adds a longer workout and an increased intensity.  So this is a great substitute for the P90x Plyometrics I feel.  I think it is important to mix things up, get some variety in.  But those doing the standard 90 day program from P90x, the Plyometrics is awesome still.  I’ve done it many times and it does a phenomenal job of kicking you in the butt.  It is true when Tony calls it the “Mother of all workouts’.  Anything that is Plyo based is going to be tough.

Day 10 –> Shoulders & Arms / Ab Ripper X   Had a great night doing shoulders & arms.  I will say that I had to tone it down a bit with the tricep workouts.  Was feeling a little tweak of sorts in my right elbow.  Would only show up in certain motions. So we’ll be keeping an eye on it.  Otherwise everything has gone wonderful.  The biceps were on fire and shoulders after the workout.  Which is such a great feeling. :).

Are you having fun? Are you ready to take on a challenge? Are you ready to get in the best shape of your life? Then take a look at P90x. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced lifter, runner, etc.  P90x will take you to that next level and due to its great ability to be modifiable to fit your needs, your fitness level it is perfect.

I started it without having done anything for a long time.  I was a total couch potato that just didn’t have the motivation or desire to workout.  But I made it fit my fitness level on Day 1 almost a year ago when I make the right decision.  You can to, have success, feel like you are now on top of the world with your energy and health.  Just take that first step and decide and get it.  I’m here to help you from Day 1 as your free fitness coach.  My motivation is fueled by your motivation to reach  your goals and be successful and get healthy.

We have a finite amount of time on this great planet, so let’s extend it. It takes work and commitment to get healthy, stay fit, and live a lifestyle that will allow you to get the most out of each and everyday! Contact me with any questions and how to get started. Week 1 of Round 3 P90x Hybrid update – Tony Horton / Shaun Thompson

clock December 15, 2009 08:23 by author kevin

Week 1 has come and gone!  I am so excited to be back doing another round of it.  I missed Tony and his crazy witty sayings. But they work.  They got me to where I am now through 2 rounds the first part of the year.   This first week had me looking a bit confused first day or so. I wasn’t 100% prepared with my equipment and the wife commented that I looked ‘lost’. hehe.  But I got my act together and it was all good.  It was tough to be honest getting back up on that pull-up bar.  The push-up’s weren’t bad.  But man, it’s going to be a fun ride getting back into the groove with the pull-ups.

Here is my latest Video Update for Week 1 update. It’s here for your viewing pleasure.

Week 1 Workouts

  • Chest & Back / Ab Ripper X
  • Plyometric cardio circuit
  • Shoulders & Arms / Insane Abs
  • Yoga X (40 minutes, cut short due to work)
  • Legs & Back / Cardio Abs
  • Pure Cardio
  • Core Ball Sandwich / Basketball (2 hours) / Rest?

Overall my next 90 days are off to a great start! Loving the feeling of lifting again, and just something new.  Change is the spice of life, and when it comes to working out, variety helps keep us motivated and wanting to keep going.  This also allows our bodies to keep guessing at what we are trying to do to it. :).   Keep the muscles guessing and they continue to have to grow become stronger. This is why P90x itself if so effective at what it does.

Contact me with any questions about P90x, Insanity, Brazil Butt Lift, RevAbs, Chalean Extreme and any other BeachBody product that you might be interested in.  They each offer their unique flavor to getting fit, turning your lifestyle into a healthy one and all while having a little fun.  Each trainer is amazing and they know how to get the job done.

Each night, find me in WOWY @ 9PM EST. BuddyName: KevinPrice.  No better way to create accountability then working out with others and creating lasting relationships.  The community is amazing and there to help each other be successful.

Day 1-4 of 90 P90x Round 3 Program – Tony Horton

clock December 11, 2009 15:04 by author blogger

insanity-p90x So I didn’t get my first 4 days of my P90x Round 3 program posted originally.  So I'm kind of backtracking on this one.  I will give a short update on how each day went.  It has been a great start to my 3rd round of P90x.  I totally forgot how tough the program was. I took that 4 month hiatus to do Insanity for 2 rounds and wow, come back and it definitely making me work hard.  Which is good.  That is what I was hoping for.  Not that I wasn’t working hard, pushing myself each and everyday in Insanity, but this is a different type of workout program.

One thing that I see many people confuse is the differences between P90x and Insanity.  P90x is geared towards working your entire body through cardio, resistance training and yoga. Along with a very aggressive nutrition plan that when followed gets you extreme results.  Insanity is a  60 day total body ‘conditioning’ program designed to aggressively increase your cardio stamina, create quick weight loss if structured right and get you ripped pretty fast. The one common factor between these 2 programs is that they WILL get you ripped if you follow them explicitly.

Day 1 –> Chest & Back / Ab Ripper X (58 / 16min)  What can I say about the first day.  WOW.  Maybe a bit of ouch is in order also. :).  So I was still just coming off of my Insanity round when I picked up into this hybrid.  I knew it might take me a few days to get really back into this programs mindset.  I was ‘lost’ as the wife called it this first day. I had forgotten what exercises would be coming up. Had my equipment spread all over the place, it wasn’t a pretty site.  But, with all that going on, I still was able to maintain myself and get through the workout and be effective.  I will say I was exhausted by the end.  Ab Ripper X, per usual, got me in the O’ hip flexors, but it was a TON better than what I had remembered. And I owe that all to Insanity’s workouts.

Day 2 –> Plyometric Cardio Circuit (44min) I love this one. Been doing this workout for 5+ months now. We’ll before Insanity came out and then throughout the first 2 rounds of it.  I love how exhausted and how well this workout was put together. This was a great preview when it came out with one of the Tony Horton one on one discs.  This is a great replacement for Plyometrics that comes in P90x.

Day 3 –> Shoulders & Arms / Insane Abs (58/26 min) So on to the 2nd day of weights in the program.  i finally got my act together on this one.  I had my equipment in order, was mentally prepared more and ready to really Bring it and I did. I upped my weight and got into a great groove with what I wanted to accomplish during this workout.  You find it does indeed do everything it says for your Shoulders and Arms.  I added in insane abs from Insanity rather than ab ripper X, because this is all about getting results, creating a variety for the body that will allow it to grow continuously for 90 days!

Day 4 –> Yoga X (only got 40 min) What can I say about Yoga X.  it’s long, it is tough, it does its job. I was only able to do about 40 minutes though due to some work I was doing that night. I hadn’t realized it and so I didn’t get to do the whole thing.  But the 40 minutes I had, I felt every second of it. :). I hadn’t done any Yoga other than one day doing the Patience Yoga from Tony Horton One on One program. So it will take some getting use to during the next 3 months again. But I’m excited.

So that is my wrap of the first 4 days. I loved it.  There isn’t anything better than mixing in 2 of the best hardcore products that BeachBody offers.  They both offer their own unique flavor of working out. Each Trainer (Tony Horton & Shaun Thompson) are amazing.  They both know how to get you motivated, get you engaged in your workout to want to get results and get yourself healthy.  They are there to help you reach your goals

Let me help get you started.  Let’s find that motivation, that reason to get healthy.  There is no reason we shouldn’t be making a lasting impression upon our children and others that being healthy is the right thing.  Give me one hour of your day and and lets see where it leads. Decide. Commit. Succeed!
