Latest Updates – Round 4 Hybrid – P90x and Insanity (Tony Horton/Shaun Thompson)

clock April 6, 2010 17:31 by author Kevin

Insanity-p90x-2 So what have I been up to these past 2 weeks of my round 4?  I’ve been pushing play, best I can.  I have missed a couple workouts to be honest.  But those days happen.  Do our best and forget the rest. So back on track this week. Staying consistent, buckling down with the nutrition side after a crazy Easter weekend.  I did partake a few times in the Easter candy. :)  But nothing too crazy.

Last week was the recovery week. And I’m glad that it was. I was feeling a big need for one and it came at the right time.  So starting now into Month 2 of round 4, I'm ready to really get focused again and continue working towards the goals I laid out from the onset. I am confident that I will be successful.  Nothing wrong with adjusting your goals. It is an awesome exercise each and everyday to go back, re-read your goals in the morning, or a few times a day. Review and adjust if you need to.  You can’t accomplish everything in the 24 hours we are given each day, but we can certainly make progress.  Step by step we will be successful!

Let’s have fun, get fit, felt great each and everyday you wake up.  The rush and long term effects of working out are so much better than the alternative.  Don’t sit around watching the evening dramas and the afternoon soap operas and talk shows.  Use that time wisely and make it work for you!

One thing i want to do is get back to my video’s. I have slacked quite a bit on them.  So look for something soon!

Contact me with any questions about P90x, Insanity, shakeology or any other BeachBody product. They have a product that can fit any fitness level and nutritional supplement. They all work.

Get fit or Get out!

Day 11/12/13 P90x/Insanity Hybrid Round 4 updates

clock March 22, 2010 12:11 by author Kevin

homepic Day 11 – Core cardio and Balance.  I decided to switch things up and go with this rather than the yoga this week.  I was wanting to through it into the routine and this was a good as any day to do it. Felt great.  It had been some time so really enjoyed it.  Definitely different pace than the P90x Yoga X or the much shorter Patience yoga but for the standpoint of a general what I would call a mid-week recovery workout worked perfect for me.  You’ll find that I’ll change things up from time to time through out the program depending on how things are going and how I feel.  Love having so much variety on hand to be able to mix it up with all types of workouts.  From the insane pace of Insanity to the booty workout’s from Brazilian butt lift.  There is something for everyone.

Day 12 – Legs and Back  / Run (4.x miles)  I started the morning with a 4.45 mile run.  Felt awesome. Finally getting my playlist in order to match up for a 7 – 8 mile run.  Keep tweaking as I get longer and adjusting the order some to make sure I'm keeping the pace as I want it. It’s been fun with all the tinkering.  Overall the runs have been getting better and better I feel.  I do think I need to stretch more.

Legs and back that night at my usual ‘bat’ time workout.  Now I will say that it wasn’t as strong/intense as I would of liked.  I did go heavier with the weights.  I’m wondering if it played in part due to the running in the morning and taking something out of my legs. Not sure.  But I got through it, and was very happy that I didn’t stop.  Pressed play.

Day 13  - Kenpo Cardio Plus/ Chalean Extreme Burn it off – Love doing the P90x Kenpo workout.  Never fails to get a great workout, heart-rate up and solid calorie burn.  I continue to use ankle weights and weighted gloves with most of the cardio workouts now. some it is tough so will vary depending on which one.  I’ve decided to put on the wish list a weighted vest. :).  Should really make things interesting down the road.  Won’t get for a while but will be fun.

CE Burn it off did this with the wife during her workout time.  We had a BLAST.  She is doing awesome with sticking to her workout plan and slowly making changes in her journey to new found health!  Here to help her reach her milestones! You can also follow her journey @ her site.

Day 14 – Rest day/ Basketball  My weekly basketball is tonight.  Only a couple more weeks left. I’m going to miss it that is for sure. I’ve really enjoyed the past 4ish months.  The new found cardio endurance from Insanity, and the running has really allowed me to get in there and play some fun defense. It really is my only ‘benefit’ i bring to the table. lol. I really can’t shoot for squat.  Throw a pick here and there to get a guy open and that is the extend of my ‘skillz’.  But it is fun, another workout.

So are you really enjoying what you are doing now? are you getting in motion at least 3 times a week? Have you found something that you enjoy to get you down the right track of getting healthy for yourself and your family.  Remember, you don’t only affect yourself. You are affecting the lives of your children and others around you.  it really is contagious.

Both exercise and nutrition side.  they each play a crucial role. But you have to start.  Start slow, but just start.  Press play, get outside, take a walk, whatever it takes. If you are ready for a challenge, ready for a structured program to kick you in gear then i would love to talk with you about Beachbody products and fitness programs. they work, they do the job. I’ve been using for over a year now and I attribute my success to them getting me dedicated to changing my life and my families for the better.  Contact me, with any questions about P90x, Chalean Extreme, Insanity, Brazilian Butt lift, revAbs, shakeology or any other of the amazing products that BeachBody has to offer.

Let’s have some fun folks!

Day 8/9/10 - P90x/Insanity Hybrid Round 4 (Tony Horton / Shaun Thompson)

clock March 18, 2010 21:52 by author Kevin

Insanity-p90x-2 Day 8 – P90x Chest and Back. Love this workout. Nothing better than an hour of pushing and pulling.  Get in there, do a ton of pushup’s and pull-up’s and walk away with arms like noodles.  It’s a wonderful feeling it really is. :).  Even though I’ve done this workout many a many times, it is never hard to push myself further than the last or find ways to create the necessary burn to ensure I'm getting results.  Pushing and pulling are a corner stone of what Tony loves to do in this program. Don’t fear that you can’t do a pull-up or pushup or only a couple.  You start out slow, you do your best and you work from there.  As you get stronger and develop the muscle base, you’ll be amazed at what you find yourself being able to do. Never doubt your capabilities!

Day 9 – Insanity Plyometric Cardio Circuit.  What can I say? Shaun Thompson, and Insanity at its best.  He’ pushes you from the first moment with the warm-up. Which is 10 minutes long non-stop.  That’s all before the actually stretching portion.  this is what I love about the program. Shaun puts a great emphasis on being ready for the main event as I’ll call it here.  You get the body in the right frame of ‘mind’ so to speak to dig deep and get solid results and sweat your booty off for x amount of time.  There has never been a dry shirt after an Insanity workout in the 2+ rounds I’ve done and continue to do the workouts from it.  Just doesn’t happen.

Day 10 – P90x Shoulders & Arms.  You do multiple sets/rotations of shoulders, biceps and triceps exercises.  If by the end of this workout, your upper body isn’t tired you’ve done something wrong.  Your biceps should be exploding by the time you are done.  It is an amazing feeling.  I love it. I’ve been increasing the weight and it’s really making a difference.

You need to make sure as you do the resistance workouts that you are making a decision on what you want to accomplish.  As Tony always says, are you and 8-10 rep person or a 12 – 15 rep person.  Do you want to get more size or do you want to get a leaner look.  That is up to you.  Find the right weight/band and get the job done.  You can modify these programs/workouts to fit whatever your goals are.  That is why they continue to do so well and have such a huge base of people using it.  Anyone can. No matter what your level, I feel you can get in and do P90x.  Modify to fit you.

Love to chat about it. Love to help you succeed at getting healthy and energized each and everyday to take back your life. Contact me.  Let’s talk.  Stand up and get moving! Simple as that.

Day 5/6 of 90 Round 4 – P90x Legs and Back (Tony Horton) / Max interval sports training (Shaun Thompson Insanity)

clock March 14, 2010 14:03 by author Kevin

Day 5 –> P90x Legs and Back.  Rock solid leg workout. With some added pull-up’s in there for the back.  You should by the end of this one have some pretty exhausted legs.  You’ll be doing a ton of lunges and squats.  All using your own body weight along with added weights or bands if you have them to increase the intensity.  The one exercise that always gets me is the single leg squat.  No matter what, seems I just don’t have the skills. :).  But I get in there, and I do it. whether it is 5 or 8 seconds each time I do it.  What I’ve found from doing the various leg workouts that Tony has created and includes wall squats, it is a mental thing.  You can do it. It can be done.   Just stick with it. Each workout, you try to do a little more each time and pushing yourself to do better.

Day 6 –> Insanity Max Interval Sports Training.  Now, we all love a nice cardio workout. One that gets your heartbeat up, blood pumping and the sweat pouring.  But when you take on an Insanity workout, especially one of the Max Interval (2nd month workouts) you are taken to new heights.  I’ve done Insanity twice now and this is probably my favorite workout.  One hour of pure sweat dripping fun.  If you own Insanity, or are looking at getting or trying insanity, make sure you go with the Deluxe Version of Insanity.  The three extra workouts are must haves for it.  If you play sports then this is highly recommended workout. I love it for the fun of the basketball, boxing and football drills.  With the basketball that I’ve added to my weekly routine for the past 3 months, I think it has been an awesome addition.  It’s helped me since well let’s just say I’m no spring chicken and I'm out there for the workout. :)  I’ve added in weighted gloves and ankle weights to most of my cardio workouts now.  Really love them in this workout and the Kenpo cardio plus.

I’m having fun. Another round that is going strong.  I’m going to start really increasing the weight in the coming weeks.  I think it will help me reach my goals of both getting stronger and really pushing the envelope this time around.  Cardio I will continue to keep it up. With the added running and getting ready for the 10k in May.   You can follow my running over at the Nike site.

Take some time. Set some goals, layout a game plan.  You’ll find if you do this, you are more likely to be successful in your program and in life.  One goal at a time. Short and long term, you’ll do amazing things for yourself.  Your never alone. that is something critical to remember.  You have support, you just need to ask for it. Just need to look at ways of creating accountabilityContact me, love to help, love to talk about it.  If you are already using a Beachbody product, then get signed up at Team Beachbody.   Great community support, and you’ll get me as some added support through your program.

Decide. Commit. Succeed!

Day 3/4 of 90 Round 4 – P90x Shoulders and Arms (Tony Horton)

clock March 12, 2010 22:57 by author Kevin

insanity-p90x Day 3 –> P90x Shoulders & Arms .   Biceps, triceps and shoulders. Over and over again till you can no longer lift your arms.  Yep, that is the beauty of this workout. :) Tony has the usual wit and humor that we’ve all come to love which helps keep things light hearted while still pushing yourself hard from beginning to end.  Pick the right weights,  do the right # of reps for you depending on what you want to accomplish. This round I am trying to up my weight throughout the program so I’m hoping to see some nice improvements in size in the arms.

Day 4 –> P90x Yoga.  What can I say about Yoga?  For some people it is their arch enemies and others it’s the cat’s meow.  I kind of fall somewhere in the middle.  I don't mind doing it, I know that the benefits of it our incredible and well worth including it into any workout program.  Will I substitute out form time to time? Sure. It’s just the nature of things.  But its a wonderful workout. It’s long, but you can easily break it into a couple parts if you wanted to depending on your time available that day.   I highly recommend you attempting it.  Don't worry if you can’t get through it the first time.  TBH, you probably won’t get through it the first few times.  I have conversations with people time and time again about it.  You just have to do your best, get in there press play and modify where necessary and go at it slow.

The overall thing to walk away with is that you have to play the game to win the game.  In order to get results, you have to press play. Whether it is P90x, Insanity, TurboJam, Chalean Extreme, or some other form of workout program.  You have to decide to make a change. You have to commit to that program both physically and nutrition wise in order to be successful.  They go hand in hand. Let’s start today. Contact me, love to talk and figure out what works best for your goals and fitness level!

I’ve having fun, and so should you.  Take a deep breath and enjoy the ride!

Day 1/2 of 90 Round 4 – P90x Hybrid (30/15 and Pure Cardio)

clock March 11, 2010 11:40 by author Kevin

insanity-p90x Day 1-> Let’s say it was crazy.  It had been a while since I did this particular workout, the Tony Horton One on One 30/15.  This is 30 pushups and 15 pull-ups over an hour long period of time in various exercises.   I love it.  I was sore for 2 days after this workout which is a most excellent feeling. :)  Who isn’t be happy to be sore? Ok, maybe some. But it shows to me, that I can continue to push myself and feel the results. Feel that I am getting stronger.

You just have to take it in stride and do what you can from the beginning to the end of this1on1 workout. Tony himself even lowers the # per exercise.  So it shows you, that we are all human and we can only do what we can. We press play, we get stronger, we get healthier and we move forward one workout at a time.

This is one of my favorite workouts in all of the BeachBody collection.  Push-ups and pull-ups. How can you go wrong? Your own body weight getting the job done.

Day 2-> Pure Cardio.  Who doesn’t love Shaun Thompson motivating you through a 30+ minutes cardio endurance workout?  He gets you motivated, keeps you under control, tells you the right way to push hard, get results and stay safe from injury.  It’s wonderful. This is one of my favorites.  I like the whole cardio endurance aspects of Insanity, plain and simply because it’s work. I’ve done 2 rounds of just Insanity and I will do another one day because it really does the job.  Key through any of the workouts is modifying where you need to. Take breaks, keep hydrated and get back in the game and get results.

So round 4 is underway,  I hope everyone is getting started, looking forward to summer coming and feeling good about yourself.  Working out helps in so many ways. Not only with your health which is the primary reason, but it boosts your confidence. Your comfort zone grows and you feel better, stand taller and that is a wonderful feeling.  Mentally you are going to be sharper.  Let’s take it one day at a time. Here to help, so contact me.  Love to hear about your story, your transformation, your history, your journey to a healthier and happier you!

Interested in either Insanity, P90x, Tony Horton One on Ones let me know. Any information on them either just shout.  You can go to my BeachBody Coach page and check things out as well.
