Tony Horton P90x One On One – Chest Back and Balls Review (Volume 3, disc 1)

clock August 3, 2010 12:17 by author kevin

One_300x250 Tony has released the first disc of Volume 3 called Chest back and Balls.  This is the beginning of the next P90x to be released next year in the fall sometime, so far the working name is P90x:MC2.  Tony is giving us an inside view into the creation and production of the new P90x by showing us each month new P90x moves that he has developed and potentially will be putting into the new series.

You can see my video update on this workout here, along with some clips of a few of the ball moves.  All my videos can be see in my YouTube channel.

There are various moves(Lever, Two ball push-up side arm balance, the possible, three ball plyometric pushup, L-pull-up, swimmer’s push-up military push-ups on medicine ball and many more) between a variety of pull-up’s and push-up’s doing ball work.  With the type of stabilization work you have to do with the balls themselves, you will need to focus on your balance and utilizing your core muscle group, your gluts, and everything else in order to be successful.

Details:

Time: Approximately 50 minutes
Exercises: 20 (10 pull-up moves and 10 ball moves)
Equipment: Pull-Up Bar, Large Stability ball, 4 medium sized balls (basketball size, or medicine ball size)

You’ll find that Tony has spared no expense of pushing us to our limits with this workout.  Each move is tailored to get the most out of it if you follow the way he shows it.  As Tony explains also during each move, that during the new P90x program, each move will have variations shown by others that will be in the video’s so that people can do what works best for them.  Always ways to modify a move so you can still get an effective workout done from it.  He even mentions some of the ways you can modify during the current one on one as well.  But if you can, give those ball moves a try as they are.  Oh, it’s fun and crazy!

This was a great lead off workout for the P90x (newly labeled) One on One series Volume 3 because I was toast after the 50 minutes.  I had a blast with the ball moves more than anything because trying to get my balance and learn that I have a long ways to go.  We even get to see Tony getting pushed to the extreme in this one.  That tells you for one it is a WINNER workout.

Any questions, and comments just drop me a note.  I’m always around and love to hear back from people on their views of the workouts, their current program or just sharing their story.  You can contact me at anytime through the methods there.  One day at a time folks.  That’s all it takes.  Take that first step and get fit and healthy!  Your journey starts now.

Latest Updates of TurboFire (Month 2 started) BeachBody Workout program (creators of P90x and Insanity)

clock July 23, 2010 15:58 by author kevin

TurboFireLogo2

Into Month 2 of my first round of TurboFireTurbofire is broken down into different sequences/areas of affect each month.  First month was the HIIT Month. So the first 4 weeks focused on incorporating HIIT workouts throughout the week on top of the standard cardio workouts.  The 2nd month is called the ‘cardio’ month.  You won’t be doing any HIIT workouts during that period.  In week 8, it is actually a ‘recovery’ week.  More on that as I get into that week (week 8) and cover it.  Here is a layout of the full 20 week plan that has been developed by Chalene.

My video Update is also posted on YouTube here.  You can see all my video’s in my channel.

TurboFire Weeks 1 –4 –> HIIT Level 1
TurboFire Weeks 5-8 –> Cardio / recovery
TurboFire Weeks 9-12 –> HIIT Level 2 / recovery
TurboFire Weeks 13-16 –> Advanced Cardio / recovery
TurboFire Weeks 17-20 –> HIIT 3 / recovery

I am going to be doing only the weeks 1 – 12 for now.  To do weeks 13 – 16, you will need the get the added workouts in order to complete them.  I will probably get them as I near the end of the first 90 days myself and continue to push forward with my TurboFire experience. WHich I have to say has been fun.

So last week was first week of Month 2 and lots of cardio. but I'm loving it. I have also added now the first of the Tony Horton P90x One on One’s Chest / Back / Balls once a week.  I cannot go without something One on One based in any program I do.   Key that I’ve found is that I’m having fun pushing and challenging myself day to day with these workouts.  Once you get yourself excited about getting fit and healthy, it 2nd nature to want to keep going and stay motivated pressing play.  Join me in WOWY daily. BuddyName: KevinPrice. I sent out a daily invite for my workouts.  It helps as a reminder to you to do yours, and if you can join me at the same time.

So if you make any decision about your health and fitness, the first thing you need to decide is are you ready to commit yourself to getting healthy?  Take that first step. Take that first little baby step to saying yes. Find something that peaks your interest. I would love for it to be a Beachbody program because I know they work. But ultimately find what motivates you to do it and stick to it.  Here to help. So contact me if you have any questions about health and fitness. I love to talk and chat.  You can always find me on Facebook

Day 18 of 90 TurboFire Workout Program (Beachbody creators of P90x/Insanity)

clock July 17, 2010 15:07 by author kevin

TurboFireLogo2  Day 18 was the HIIT 15 and Tone 30 classes for TurboFire.  Now I've already done the HIIT 15 a few times and I’m nailing that consistently with getting the moves in, raising the intensity and really starting to see the effects I think from these HIIT workouts.  I’ve added a couple times now some weighted gloves and you’ll definitely notice the difference when you start increasing the intensity like that.

The 2nd workout for day 18 was the Tone 30 class. This was my first time doing this one.  It was is a Total Body workout that uses a band and the stretchy leg band that comes with the program.  You go through 3 distinct ‘routines’ after the warm-up of working different parts of the body.  What I really found amazing was that I had a tough time with the band I choose.  Now the significance of that was it wasn’t the toughest band I have.  And what I notice as Chalene moved through the different body parts working them from the different angles is you feel the burn. If you don’t, you aren’t doing it right and you need to step it up.

As mentioned this is a total body workout. You’ll hit each of the major muscle groups including the triceps, biceps, chest, back, shoulders, legs and core in the 30 minutes.  And don’t think you won’t feel it by the end.  You may have to experiment a little with what band to use and in what length to choose to get the most benefit out of it.

Towards the end when we are doing the thigh specific exercise, i was struggling with the way  I had setup with the stretchy band.  struggling to the point where I had couple feel my legs shaking from the amount of tension that I had to work through.  I was happy about that.  I was a little skeptical about that leg band but if you do it right, it works.  You can also use a regular band for the exercise.  I did try it out afterwards and found it be just as effective. The nice thing about using a normal band is that you can really control the intensity more granularly.  Just my perception of it.

So my promise to you and everyone out there is that I'll keep pressing play, and hopefully you will also.  Let’s do this together.  contact me with any questions and I know that you will find something that will work for you!

Day 15/16/17 of 90 TurboFire Beachbody Workout Program (creators of P90x / Insanity)

clock July 13, 2010 16:59 by author kevin

TurboFireLogo2

This week of TurboFire has been going strong.  Had the Fire 45 EZ class on Monday and the HIIT 25 on Tuesday with some stretch 10 class after each. Then followed up by a wonderful rest day yesterday.  I had been up early for some work related stuff and it worked out perfected.  I even got in a much needed nap

I am really starting to dig these workouts more and more. The HIIT 25 was definitely a sweater and got you to really push yourself pretty hard.  I think I have really gotten things figured out with most of the workouts in these first 3 weeks.  I’ve found taken it slower at times, rewinding when necessary and just focusing on the moves, that the intensity level will continue to go up and the results will be even better.  I’ve already noticed that my calorie burns have been higher each workout compared to the previous time doing the same type of workout. That is a bonus!

It doesn’t take much to get the job done.  These for some would be considered ‘extreme’ workouts. But Turbofire is not designed like that. It is a program that can really be done by various levels of fitness and health.  You work through the moves more and more each day till you get the routine down. You follow the low impact version that is given during the workout and work your way up to the higher intensity moves. It’s just like anything in life.  But the only way to get the changes in motion is to start.   DVR that  soap opera or TV show, put down the WII or Xbox, don’t go snacking on chips and dip at night.  Commit yourself to 30 – 45 minutes a night of activity.

These are shorter workouts than I am use to in the past.  A few have been 45, 55 minutes, but the idea in mind here is to get the most bang for your time.  You put in higher intensity,  you get out longer term calorie burns. Especially on the HIIT workout days.   Great cardio endurance.

So my promise to you and everyone out there is that I'll keep pressing play, and hopefully you will also.  Let’s do this together.  contact me with any questions and I know that you will find something that will work for you!

Week 2 Update (July 5 – July 11) of TurboFire BeachBody Workout program (creators of P90x and Insanity)

clock July 12, 2010 22:51 by author kevin

 TurboFireLogo2

So this is my 2nd time publishing my week 2 update. In some weird fashion I ended up overwriting it with my last update.  So here we go again.   Week two was another set of amazing workouts.  From the Fire 45 class, to the HIIT 20, and the Core and Sculpt classes. I think that my favorite for the week was Fire 45 and HIIT 20.

I have my week 2 video  update here,  on my YouTube channel.   It’s been fun getting back into the camera again. I’m sure I look at goofy per usual, :) , but it’s a great way to add some motivation for yourself and others. All about sharing my results, enthusiasm and desire to get healthy with others.

I felt a lot more comfortable the 2nd week with the workouts, the moves and the intensity level that I was able to bring to class for each day.  The moves in these workouts seemed more 'natural to me.  Now that could be because I was finally getting down the Fire 30 and Fire 55 moves and so forth.  But either way it all works out in the end.  The key is sticking in there, pressing play, rewinding, pausing and doing whatever you need to, to feel comfortable.  I was also surprised at the effectiveness of the Core 20 class.  I’d been so use to the insanity and P90x ab workouts that I didn’t expect it would be as effective. let me just say I was wrong about that. It did the job and you really get an awesome burn from the moves that chalene has put forth.

Week 2 (July 5, 2010 – July 11, 2010)

Monday – Fire 45 class / Stretch 10 class
Tuesday – Run 3.12 Miles / HIIT 20 class / Stretch 10 class
Wednesday – Run 2.45 Miles / REST
Thursday – HIIT 15 Class / Sculpt 30 Class
Friday – Run 4.19 Miles / Fire 55 EZ Class
Saturday – Core 20 class / Stretch 40 class
Sunday – Fire 45 class / stretch 10 class

So if you make any decision about your health and fitness, the first thing you need to decide is are you ready to commit yourself to getting healthy?  Take that first step. Take that first little baby step to saying yes. Find something that peaks your interest. I would love for it to be a beachbody program because I know they work. Week 1 Update of TurboFire BeachBody Workout Program (creators of P90x / Insanity)

clock July 6, 2010 22:24 by author kevin

TurboFireLogo2 Week 1of TurboFire has come and passed now and I am really enjoying this program.  I think what I have found that has impressed me the most is that it is 110% CHALLENGING me to get outside my norm.  All the workouts I’ve been doing since I started with BeachBody programs have been pretty straightforward.   They have been a challenge in their own right but there wasn’t that element of ‘complexity’ if that makes sense.

I have my first 5 days of Video Blog updates on my YouTube channel.  Take a look. I am without the camera this week, so won’t get another vlog update till week 3.

Chalene does an amazing job of creating these combination moves, that force you to think about what you are doing.   As you gain the confidence in the moves, you begin to increase the intensity.  Which is where I am beginning to get starting in week 2 now.  But week one, was a really fun week to learn the moves, have the wife explain and show me how to get through them (yes, I needed help, not shy to admit that).

Week 1 (June 28, 2010 – July 4, 2010)

Monday – Fire 30 class / Stretch 10 class
Tuesday – HIIT 15 class / Stretch 10 class
Wednesday – Run 3.02 Miles / REST
Thursday – Run 3.41 Miles / Fire 30 class / Stretch 10
Friday – Fire 55 EZ Class
Saturday – Run 4.24 Miles / Fire 30 class / Stretch 10
Sunday – Core 20 class / Stretch 40 class

One thing that I’ve found so true from what Chalene says during the workout. That you really have to commit and give 110% of your effort in your workouts. It’s not just about showing up and going through the motions. It’s about actively committing yourself for the time you are there and giving it your best effort.  That’s all anyone can ask. But do it.

This was definitely an active first week of my next 90 days.  I am feeling it and I think this is a great program for all fitness levels.  It takes some getting use to with the moves, but it is a blast.  So take a hard look at it. I can already see these 90 days are going to fly by and I’m excited to see the results.  I'll keep pressing play, and hopefully you will also.  Let’s do this together.  contact me with any questions and I know that you will find something that will work for you!

Day 4 of 90: TurboFire Workout Program (Fire 30 Class / Stretch 10)

clock July 3, 2010 07:07 by author kevin

TurboFireLogo2 Day 3 was a rest day per the schedule. I did end up doing a run that morning. Just over 3 miles.  Day 4 of TurboFire was Fire 30 class and turned out to be really nice.  I was able to raise the intensity level up as I got a better feel for the moves throughout the 30 minutes.  What I did find that I had to do was turn off the ‘music’ piece.  I was having a tough time hearing Chalene with it on.  Once I did that, I could hear here talking about the move quicker rather than waiting to see it.

My latest Video update on YouTube can be found here on  my channel.

I still have a bit of problem in the last sequence and in the 2nd part of the ‘fire’ drills that go for one minute.  :)   But the name of the game is perseverance.  I’m still in the game, working through all the moves and will have them all figured out soon enough.  It’s easy enough to pause, rewind, play again till you get a firm grasp.  I play mine on the computer so I can also slow it down so I can watch her go through the motions better.  Great little tidbit for troubleshooting moves if you as well are having any problems.

Remember, that if you are in there pressing play, playing the game, doing something daily, it doesn’t matter so much that you are a master at the moves or are doing everything that you see on the video’s.  The key is that you are active.  That you are moving each day, doing something to promote your health and fitness.  Over time you will become more successful with the moves, able to raise the intensity and just maybe be at the same level as those in the class.

Keep pressing play, keep showing up for class.  I know that I will.  You have anything you are interested in talking about beachbody products, your current or future workout programs just contact me. It would be my honored pleasure to assist you in anyway that I can. Sharing my experience, paying it forward to everyone out there is something that I enjoy and really helps motivate myself as well to continue to achieve my goals and dreams.

Day 2 of 90: TurboFire Workout Program (HIIT 15 Class / Stretch 10)

clock June 30, 2010 22:15 by author kevin

TurboFireLogo2 So day 2 of TurboFire 90 day program, HIIT 15, continued the trend of making me sweat and push myself.  I have done the HIIT 15 workout a couple times before and I am glad that I have.  It has allowed me to be stronger in the moves and not be so uncoordinated trying to keep up with the ‘class’.  You need to be ready to give your maximum effort, high level of intensity when you hear the ‘siren’.  Oh, you’ll come to love the ‘siren’ as you do this workout. :)

You can check out my video log on YouTube for day 2 here on my channel.  it’s been fun getting back into the world of videoing and blogging more often.  It has really helped me motivate myself more because I'm showing everyone the excitement that I’ve found in a new program (can you say variety) and it’s going to be an awesome 90 days.

So this TurboFire HIIT 15 class.  it was just long enough to what I feel is a taste of what is to come in the coming weeks.  After a short introduction to the basic moves in the beginning of each sequence (there are 3) you then move into the more intense section of the workout.  As I mentioned before there is this ‘siren’.  That basically means for a period of time, 30-40 seconds, you will be pushing yourself, you will be giving Chalene and the rest of the class your maximum effort to get results.  You will do this 3 times.  This will raise your heart rate for those 30-40 seconds (high intensity) then you’ll come back down (recover) for a short period of time and repeat.  Don’t be fooled by the fact that it is only 15 minutes.

Keep checking back as I’ll keep talking more about these workouts as they come along and how they are transforming me throughout the 90 days.  Lot’s more fun to come and glad to be able to share it with everyone.

If you make just one decision today, I implore you to simply go for a walk. 15 minutes.  That’s all I ask.  If you want to be even more adventurous go for a short bike run. Maybe a short jog.  Build on it. Look to challenge yourself and commit to a workout program that you find appealing and do it.  There are so many to choose from it is hard NOT to find one that fits your current and future fitness needs.  Let me help you find the right fit.  Just contact me.   I would love to share my experience with you and get you going.

Day 1 of 90: TurboFire Workout Program (Fire 30 Class / Stretch 10)

clock June 29, 2010 19:53 by author kevin

TurboFireLogo2 I will say that day 1, TurboFire Fire 30 class was awesome.  I realized just how uncoordinated I am but I still enjoy it. :) I did my best and I will only get better over time as I continue to press play each day and learn the moves more and more.  What rocked was that the wife got in there and rocked it with me as well. She really enjoys the dance type workouts and it shows.    But I was glad to have the added support and motivation from the wife working out with me and getting herself into the ‘game’ as well.  Going to be a great 90 days!

My video log of day 1 can be found here on my YouTube channel. Look for some clips from the day 1 workout to be posted there soon.

So what was the workout like? It was intense.  I was working up a sweat out the gate and it never stopped till we finished 30 minutes later.  Chalene does an great job of putting together continuous moves that keep you engaged and with an intensity level that is just kicking the calories burning up a notch!  Even only running a mere 30 minutes, it felt like you were packing in an hour long workout worth of ‘work’.  That’s the benefits of these type of workouts.  They don’t have to necessarily be long to get the benefits. It’s about working smart.

What I have found is that one major benefit of this workout program is that anyone can do it.  Chalene has structured it with the different workout partners on the ‘stage’ with her doing a non-impact type version so that most anyone can get into the mix and enjoy getting this program.  This program will get you results and just requires you to make that commitment.  It’s your for the taking. Life changes are often hard.  It’s how you handle it what counts.  Only you can go out there and press the play button or make a change that will allow you to be happier, live a longer fulfilling life with your friends and family.  You have support, motivation, accountability partners, but you need to take that first step.

I look forward to this new 90 day challenge.  The past year and a half have given me a new profound outlook on fitness and my desire to push myself harder but while still retaining the ability to have fun at it.  I won’t do it if I can’t enjoy myself also.  I’ve said that from day 1.  So find what allows you to have fun and do it.  It’s out there.  There is something for everyone.

You want support, accountability, some daily motivation, or just a simple hello from someone who shares in your interests and desire to become healthier and happier in life then contact me.  I’m here and would be honored to.

Decide. Commit. Succeed.
